well here's what i already have and plan on putting in my soon to be sff:

amd 3200+ s754
biostar t-force mobo
ati radeon x800 gto2 oc'ed to 550/550
pvr-150 mce edition
250gb wd sata2 hd
nec dvd burner

basically i need a case and a psu that can handle it all. also would i be able to fit an aftermarket cooler on the vid card and the cpu in a smaller case?

I'm partial to the X-Qpack (I own three) and for ease of use, cooling and room, they can't be beat by any other SFF case. However, the power supply IS crap and will need to be replaced. Folks say it's flimsy, but that is only when it's apart, when the lid is on and you are carrying it around it has a sturdy feel, but doesn't weigh a ton like a steel version would.

The new Antec NSK 3300 m-atx tower looks very promising. Should be out in March according to Antec.

how are the silverstone sg01 and the antec aria? i have an xclio psu in my current system and figure i could just use it if the case can take an atx psu.

I dont realy see much point of getting those stand up cases, their barely smaller then a small ATX case but limit you to mATX.... ill recommend the Qpack

The silverstone is an awesome case. The case is able to hold a Zalman 7000ALCU(can't remember the model) cooler just fine. You might want to find a shorter CD/DVD also, as it would be really close to touching the PSU.
If you can put up with disassmebly/assembly of the case when you transfer components in it, you won't be dissappointed. I know I wasn't. ;)

which of the two cases (qpack and sg01) is quieter? i love the looks of the silverstone, but having several 60mm and 80mm fans opposed to one 120mm fan is a big downfall.
