mATX AMD boards?

I am wanting to go with the new chip that amd is coming out with and am wondering what a good mobo for a sff would be that will be phenom 2 compatible. Its going to be my gaming rig. .

yes just asking for advice on a mAtx board that can take the new phenom 2. sorry if it was vague just trying to describe what i planned on doing with the system and what i plan on sticking in it.

No, it's a downclocked 8300 for the most part. Same with the 780G and 780V, the "V" is pretty much just downclocked. I could get complicated by going into detail but, I'll avoid doing so.

So other than that minor difference, to save money, go with the M3N78-VM then?

Been out of the AMD arena since my MA78GM-S2H but if this applies to Phenom 2, you'll want a 650 south bridge board usually found on the 790GX chipset to get most from overclocking, at least that's what seems to be the case for Phenom. Not sure how NV's side works as there isn't a lot of articles around them and they don't have a south bridge (their alternative to the 780G chipset which is the 8200 has proven lackluster in performance and is less popular than the 780G). 780G boards don't have 650SB, at least when I last cared to check.

So wouldn't the SB700 be better than the SB650, or is there a big gotcha here? Can you explane this?

(Sorry to be a noob here, last AMD pc i owned {bought new} was AMD xp 3000+ and had nforce2 chipset!)

pretty sure the 780V series was for business / office and the 780G was enthusiast / home theater

from what have have found, the DFI LANPARTY JR 790GX-M2RS is the only matx to have the SB750

It's also go Crossfire and a lot of crazy enthusiast features.
I like my GA78GM-S2H however. Works very well and has the ability to run a Phenom II, since it supports 140w TDP chips and AM2+ platform.

Yup I'd say if you have the $150 to spend on the DFI LANPARTY JR 790GX-M2RS, then go ahead, because the asus is nowhere near in quality. I've purchased the asus M3N78-VM and it did not work with my 4200+ athlon x2 at all. That was ultimate fail so I returned it. Of course, now that I have a 9950be, that probably wouldn't happen, but the overall build quality of the mobod wasn't what I expected. I mean, the mobod didn't have the appropriate finish that it should, on the back of the mobod, it was rough/sticky, not like the smooth finish I'd expect from a motherboard, where your finger wouldn't experience too much friction while trailing it along a vacant part of the back of the board. The board was also inappropriately packaged; there wasn't foam inside the motherboard box, instead there was the motherboard and a cardboard perforated insert, no insulation. there wasn't much extra peripherals either which upset me dearly. I didn't buy an open box or recertified either, I purchased the board new from newegg. I'm going DFI now, it should be better than the asus by far, but $150 is kinda steep, I'm waiting for free shipping or something.
