Morning.
Trying to build a new case from scratch, as simple as possible, to hold 5 x 3.5" hard disks and a full size DVD writer.
What's the recommended aluminium thickness for building a case ?? I'm looking at 3mm thick angle to build up the structural case, and 0.5mm al for filling in the holes, which will be sound-proofed to reduce noise.
Talking of a 200x200x300 mm box.
I know that there are cases out there (shuttle etc) that do similar sizes, but i'm fed up with the constraints they have on 3.5" hard disks mounting points. And the SCSI/SATA boxes that Mashie used on his UDat project don't have the flexability i need for disc mounting options.
Just spotted the Lubic stuff - not sure i like that, esp at that price, but it gives me an idea i guess!
Cheers,
Wolfsbane
