This story simply emphasizes that the video gaming industry is more mainstream than ever before. Future game creators are heading to school right now, so most feel it’s important to begin supporting them in their endeavors to create great games by mirroring what the professionals use and offering classes dedicated to game making.

The fresh new ideas will be coming from the next generation of game designers -- and the schools that train them. As the medium expands to include everything from big-budget epics to viral, web-based minigames -- both of which can be highly profitable -- educators are creating a variety of new approaches to game design.

I think this could go either way. Institutionalizing Game Development through formal education could have a benefit in that more professional game designers come out who understand games need to be more than eye candy. On the other hand, it could also crush all innovation if the graduates of these programs all rehash the same exact concepts as each other and make the same games with diff images/graphics.

Ultimately, I think more Game Devs need to focus on making their games simply fun. In the rush to produce more artwork for 3d graphics, alot of games have lost the fun factor. Many game ocmpanies also are just copying each other. At this point, it feels like 1,000,000 FPS titles are released every year that simply alter weapons and maps, whereas otehr genres dont even exist anymore. Im bored of FPS titles and want fresh ideas but no one is producing them anymore outside of a few exceptions..
