my uncle gave me his mag 17 inch lcd because it stopped working..he said he was told it is the backlight(im not to sure of his source of information)..anyway im curious if anyone knows of a good website to find parts for these things..the symtoms it has is the power does come on but flashes the image on the screen for about 1 second and goes away while the green power light stays on..it was manufactured in march of 2003 seems kinda new to have a bulb blow out..any suggestions?

Try shining a light on it and see if you can see an image, if there is no image at all on the screen i'd say it's something else.

I am confident this would be a good test because:
On my laptop when I am outside in the sun I can still see the screen (doesn't look that nice but can still see it) and the image displayed appears to be uneffected by the brightness of the backlight. You should be able to at least see something if you shine a light on the screen.

Double check with Mag and see if it is still under warantee. A lot of those came with 3 years parts and labor including the back light. At worst they might have a good exchange program too.

Just a thought
