OK, got off my dead ass long enough to get my W/C project going (long, ultimately boring story elided).

I'm getting ready to install the pump, and remembered stories of these things leaking around the impeller housing, rattling under load, etc. Before I JB-Weld this beggar shut, should I glue the impeller so it doesn't spin on the shaft? Is the rattling THAT noticeable?

Sorry no part # on the pump, box went to the trash over a year ago. What I do remember is seeing this thing launch a towering stream of water out of a stationary tub with 16" of water in it, so I don't think I'll have a flow issue through two Spir@l blocks...

The pump does make a clicking noise. I think it is in fact the impeller that makes it and was wondering the same thing as you. As for how loud it is, I only ever noticed it after I had isolated most of the vibrations in my case. My next computer will be built with more silence in mind, so I may modify the impeller at that time too. Unless somone give a reason as to why not of course.

As for JB welding it. I would highly advise against doing that. Just get some silicone and wipe some around the O-ring. That should be more than sufficient and you can open it up at a later time. (this is what I did)

Also because of all of the talk about cracking around the intake, I put a hoseclamp over the plastic just to reinforce it a little more.

Edit: For the record I have never had a single problem with my Danner Mag. It has never leaked or cracked. I only did the above after the fact because of stories I have heard. Although, I do not know how many problems are user created and how many are product created.

I used RTV Blue silicone to seal the impellar housing up, so it is removeable if neccesary.

Glueing the impellar blade to the shaft will eliminate the clicking, but has one possible drawback. It MAY cause the pump to stall on start ups, often needing primed to get going again. Sometimes it will fire right up, sometimes it will just sit there, sound like it is pumping, but nothing is moving...
