Ever wonder what happens when your wife runs over the family MacBook with a Subaru? This ought to satisfy your curiosity.

Did she really just say that she ran over our 5 month old Macbook Pro (17 in)? How could that even be possible? What chain of events could lead to my responsible, smart wife running over the most perfect computer I’ve ever used?

"the most perfect computer I’ve ever used"

???

Funniest line ever.

Sure it was an accident? If I saw a macbook on the ground as I was driving, I'd aim for the thing.

Is this article supposed to be a testament to the strength of the macbook?
Zippideedoodaa.

He says it was a 3400 pound Subaru.
The computer was run over by only one tire at slow speed, so doesn't this make it closer to 1/4 of the weight of the car (about 850 pounds), assuming the weight is somewhat balanced?
I don't see anything impressive about that.

My old Winbook Laptop (in sig) is a hand me down from my parents. My mother threw it at him (while it was running) when they got in a fight. It stripped a screw out from the hinge and cracked the casing around the LCD. The hard drive also had a head crash...so I upgraded it.:p The RAM and the wireless card were still seated.
Still works flawlessly...

He's got a pretty fine wife. ;-) --I'm assuming the 9months gestation video is his wife.

HAHAHA

What's even funnier, is that of the 25+ macbook pros that my company is currently using, over 10 have had to be sent back to apple for repair because of the palmrest warping above the slot loading dvd player. It warps so much that you can't get a disc in.

Apple told me it was a "known" issue and they don't charge us for the warranty repair.

So I call BS on him running it over with a subaru and nothing happening.

Get a life you apple zealot. Honestly, who makes a freaking video and blog about something like this. Can we start stoning bloggers yet? I hate blogs.

Most blogs of this nature is propaganda paid by the company...

Remember the Sony Web Site .....?

The wife runs over the corner of it, causing damage to the case and screen. What's surprising about that? :p

I gave my nephews some Itronix rugged laptops a couple of years ago that can survive high drops, a water hose and being directly run over with a heavy vehicle. Neither managed to break the laptops.

Yet more proof that Apple makes overpriced alternatives to everyday items.

We knew the Mac Classic makes made great aquariums.
The original iMacs make excellent boat anchors, with that convenient handle to attach your anchor chain too.
The Mini is a good door stop.

And now the Mac Book shows off it's prowess as a speed bump. :D

The real keys in this article are the price and repair price.

A $3000 notbook? Dear god, what's the matter with people? There are very few who can justify that even as a business expense. My entire uber high end gaming rig INCLUDING the 42" 1080p LCD doesn't get to $3000.

And $1300 to fix it?!?! Holy moley. The repair cost alone would buy you TWO decent dual core windows notebooks with Intel processors.

I'm all for competition, but this is just yuppie stupidity.

that is how apple stays in business. selling crap to people with too much money and not enough brains.

If you watch the gestation video, it makes it look like an alien is about to burst out of her stomach....

"Oh no, not again...."

"...Hello my baby, hello my honey, hello my rag tim gal... send me a kiss by wire... baby my heart's on fire..." ;)

Hey everyone, it's another news post about a mac, lets all make stupid comments about how we don't like them! hahaha that will be so funny!

Do you have a life size Steve Jobs pillow to sleep with at night?

I bet you do.

x2, or sledgehammer it like the guy on youtube that was refused service. It was a biased video I suppose, but I wouldn't doubt the story has happened before.

That's exactly what I thought. $1300 is about the max I'd pay for a nice notebook in the first place.

I call bs to this story as well, just subtle marketing. Who in their right mind, even when loaded down stuff, would take the time to bend down and selectively choose the laptop to prop up against the tire. And who in their right mind carries around a bare laptop, no laptop bag. no shoulder straps.

A Mac owner will do that.:)

At a previous job, we had this same thing happen to a lady with an IBM Thinkpad. It would be about 2-3 years ago now. Her story was that she must have leaned it against the tire. Being in the IT department that issued the laptop to her, I just saw the aftermath. I can say it was not as promising as this particular laptop, though I have no idea what type of vehicle she used to run it over, if she hit it with both tires, etc. The screen was pretty cracked (unusable), and I believe the motherboard took a hit too. The hard drive was okay, so her data was recoverable. I don't remember the other specifics anymore.

I do have the impression that Apple hardware is solid stuff. I just could never bring myself to buy any of it because of the price premium and the Apple mentality.

Heh. It's fun to watch the anti-Apple trolls here at [H].

Troll on guys... it makes you so cool! Just like those mythical ultra-hip Apple users you seem to hate so much.

I'm sorry to disagree with you but it is NOT hip to overpay for an underpowered laptop and then have the "brains" or lack thereof to place it in an unsecured position so that it can be damaged. Even the cost for repairs is outrageous and I certainly would not pay for such repairs.
Though the quality of the Apple products may be high the quality does not justify the price.

The new Apple is unApple.

So instead of an iPhone, I want an unPhone. And I don't want an iMac, I want an unMac.

It's even funnier reading the lame replies from Apple fanatics who do so much butt kissing that Steve Jobs is going to have to get their lips surgically removed from his colon.
