Hey guys,

I'm aiming to get a new gaming lappy and while I'm rather familiar with traditional SSDs, M.2 SSDs are new territory for me. Can anyone recommend a manufacturer and model? As with all SSDs a fairly decent R/W would be great, not to mention if it's been longevity tested that would be ideal.

Thanks for any help you can give.
 
Yikes. Are all M.2 chips in that price range? May have to wait until prices go down in a year or 2.
 
in order to use those M.2 PCIe x2 or x4 ssds you need a comaptable MOBO or can use m.2 to pcie x4 adapters. thats the only way to use M.2 pcie or ssd based storage.
 
it is also worth bearing in mind NVME, and the requirment for separate drivers on install of old OS's like Win7.

i think i'll get a PCIe 3.0 4x NVME m.2 drive when windows 10 arrives. win 8.1 has support too, but not running that on my main PC!
 
Wow, I didn't know about the SM951. It seems that the days of storage as a system bottle neck are over. Now, when will we see 6-8 core i5 CPUs...:rolleyes:
