This being my first visit to your forums, please allow me to thank you for the wealth of information and resources your team provides to the whole community. I am fREeCYCLE of team WesternNorthCarolina #49409.

Long story short; When working with the RedHat 9/LTSP scripts from http://www.hardfolding.com/index.php?go=37 I've bumped into a tiny quandry. If someone has a readily available inkling of the problem below, please do tell.

Everything installs properly without error on the server side. Configs were easy and self explanitory. However, when booting a test client, it sees the dhcp and obtains it's assignment, but times out waiting for tftp every time. I have stepped through the install process from scratch several times now and cannot see where I've gone wrong.

The client machine is an HP Vectra 800 series using a 3com 905TX-M series nic (which seems to want to boot pxe?). My assumption is that this rather ubiquitous nic should work, but...

Any suggestions on where to start? I've got some 30+ machines I'd like to use as clients, all in this configuration.

Just an update, my note above re: PXE boot off those 3com nics, simply indicates their default pref. I have changed this to TCP/IP/DHCP in the nic bios. (and tried all the other possibilites out of desperation)

For some reason, I simply cannot raise the tftp server even from another RH9 box via terminal. Absolutely nothing errors out and I have checked all distro MD5's.

Checked IP tables.. nothing of interest I think. All associated services are confirmed and running per the instructions.

What on earth could have happened to the tftp?
 
Well that's just @*&^%#$! great.

I've just received news that my step father is going to die soon of distal asophogial cancer.

Would SomEone please take a shot at this so I can get these friggin' boxes online. I've exhaused all reasonable courses of action that I can muster. The damn ltsp group has been of no help since I'm using a config script written by a third party.

I'll just do this manually if I have to, but it'd feel a whole lot better to just get this Done!

Please,... anyone... wtf might I try next?
 
just so you dont feel left out i will post until mage gets to you...however...i have no knowledge about the subject and have no idea how to fix it sorry.
 
If it is of the utmost importance to getting things running, setting up each by hand might be your best bet. Mage seems to be MIA...
