I'm planning on building a rig solely for mining LTC
my main rig and brother's rig are also mining and accounting for electricity I would make a tidy sum every day

CPU: Amd Sempron 145 $30
MOBO: ASUS M5A97 R2.0 $90
GPU: Radeon 7950 x 3 @ $131 each (already bought them)
PSU: EVGA SuperNova 1300W $155 (I will probably use the EVGA in my main rig and use the Corsair AX 860 here)
Memory: 8gb DDR3 (spare) $0
Crate: $5
Risers: $5
Boot off of USB: $0

total = $411

any tips/suggestions?
 
I'm planning on doing something similar. Where did you get your 7950's? Are they still available at that price?
I'm going to start with 2 GPUs, do I need a similar power supply?
 
no sadly they aren't

you can use a good 750 watt psu if you do that though im going for the 1300w since it's on sale and I'm going to be running 3x 290 off of that
