Low 3Dmark scores...argh!

I am getting a low 3Dmark score and I'm not sure why. :(

16522 3Dmark 2001SE
11656 3Dmark 2003
4909 3Dmark 2005

System specs as follows:
A64 3000+ skt754
512mb Crucial CAS 3 PC3200 ram (upgrading this to 1.5gb soon)
BFG 6800 Ultra w/ 71.84 drivers (fresh install on new HD)
Fastwrites turned off to solve a stuttering problem I had.

From what I gathered, I SHOULD be getting around:
3Dmark01 ~ 20k
3Dmark03 ~ 12.5k
3Dmark05 ~ 5.5k

I really just game, but the difference in numbers was enough to make me take notice.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys. :)
 
Your score doesnt look so bad. I was getting 5500-5700 in 3dmark05 with (66.93 drivers). And I have an FX-55/1gig or ram/6800u
 
If your card is at stock speeds I think your score is fine.
Your memory seems to be the weak point, you have only 512MB and it is CAS 3.
 
I agree with mentok, memory latencies are important on AMD systems. Also, your board being a s754 and lacking the dual channel capabilities of a s939 system will also make your scores lower.

You still have very goo scores. I get a 6.4k in 03, and a 2.6k in 05.
 
Your scores are fine, you're comparing yourself to OC'd machines with dual channel ram at 2-2-2-5, etc.. (not Cas 3 like you)

Use the ORB database and go to several pages in for similar clocked systems. Don't compare yourself to the first few pages.... (top percentile scores, unless you're an avid tweaker / OC'er with ALL high end parts)

In about 2 weeks I will be getting a gig of Corsair ValueRam (cas 2.5)...just in time for Guild Wars. :) Should this help if I leave the Crucial out of the box? I guess my project this weekend is to memtest my Crucial ram @ cas 2.5 to see if I should leave it in with the Corsair I'm getting. Forgot to mention, the motherboard I'm on is the Chaintech VNF-250. I guess the scores aren't too bad (still a little low compared to others with system specs like mine), it's just that 01 score that is awfully low.
 
Im getting a 5100 with everything at stock (look in my sig for what everything entails :) )

4900 isn't too bad. Try upgrading your drivers toto 76.xx jump over 5k.
 
3DMark scores, at least 2001, have nothing to do with 512MB or 1GB of RAM. It's RAM speed and latency that makes the difference there, so the problem is NOT with the amount RAM.
 
MemoryInAGarden, it was the 2.5 cas of the corsair vs 3 cas of the crucial I was wondering about. :)

I'm about to flash my bios to a newer version, then I'll use driver cleaner and try out the newest of the 76.xx series drivers. *crosses fingers*

Edit: New BIOS version bumped score up 100 on 2001...still within margin of error. :( Time to try the 76.xx drivers.
 
I guess I could plug in one of my old keyboards that does in fact have a turbo button, but I don't think it will do anything for me. :p

Question though, if I change drivers to a non-supported version, will that void my BFG warranty? Is it even detectable to them?

no! goodness no.. it will not void it, and they cannot tell...
 
hmmmmmm......let's see...

in 3dmark01 ur ram timings is killing the score.. cas3 is really slow hehe

in 3dmark03 ..ur ram timings is also affecting the score, but not much, make sure ur using the hgih performance settings for ur ultra when benching

3dmark05..high performance and what is ur ultra's stock clock speed? 425? or 400? i get 5.6k stock with my ultra...425 core

well... yea... the ram is the problem. but what about your psu? 6800 series takes alot of power.

As long as your games play fine and your system is stable I don't see the problem with those scores.
 
3dmark does tend to fvck up from the slightest thing. I was getting about 500 more 3dmarks than I am now awhile ago. Now it's lower. But game scores remain the same.....nice and stable. I wouldn't worry if other games are fine. You could try the following:

-Other drivers

-Reinstall your os

-Remove the chipset drivers (if installed) then reinstall

-Install your chipset drivers (if you haven't)

-Defragment your hdd (this is a must)

-Run TuneXP or do the windows command to defrag the system files to the front of the drive

-Make sure vsync is disabled, no aa/af is enabled

-Check your bios and make sure some whack setting like spread spectrum isn't enabled

And after looking at your scores....to be honest, I see really nothing wrong. Seem about in line of what they should be. The 3dmark 03 and 05 scores are right in line where they should be based on the gpu speeds and 3dmark 01 is just slightly lower than it should be since your ram is cas 3 and running overall at low latency. You also don't seem to have your cpu overclocked. Remember -- 3dmark 01 is cpu/mem dependant more so than gpu and let's not forget that 6800 series run a little slower in 01. All in all, I wouldn't worry. :rolleyes:
