Low 3dmark performance?

I just built a new box, PCIE, venice 3200 running at 2.6ghz, a gig of memory (running at 195mhz) and a MSI 6800GT.

And I'm getting 4350 3dmark 2005, doesn't that seem awfully low?

Running the latest drivers for chipset/display adapter, and they give better performance than the earlier drivers I had.

I tried clocking down my cpu to 240 and changing the memory divider so it runs at 200mhz, got less than 20 point difference in score, tried reinstalling the driver (and cleaning with drivercleaner) both chipset and display adapter, again exactly the same score.

Who cares about 3dmark scores? How about play the games you normaly play or open up the apps you normaly open, if something is wrong or dosent seem right, then redo the video drivers (driver cleaner) and so on, could be your memory, like the other poster said, maybe its the brand name.....run memtest too, and so on, also try everest to see if your benching memory is up to par with the other A64 rigs in the test

Who cares about 3dmark scores?

I really dont, but I just ran it to compare to my old rig and saw a performance decrease.

everest info, mine's the 2600mhz on dfi lanparty board, seems like awfully low scores to me.

changed memory, upped the speed a bit, write is still low but with these everest results I changed my 3dmark points by maybe 50, still not even close to what I was hoping for.

could this be my psu? realized I got a 410W in this box. Although I one hd and one cdrom in this box, nothing fancy draining power (except from the 6800GT of course), and on the other hand the venice does drain less power than other amd's , I have both 24pin, 20pin and one normal (4pin molex) power cable going to the motherboard.

everest is reporting 3.3v at 3.34, 5v at 5.05v and 12v at 11.97v, so that part looks ok.

what name brand is the PSU? and serriously, those are just benchtests, go play games, you dont see a diffrence then come back here and talk about it, cause useing sinthetic bench marks dosent help....../shrug/ i dunno what it could be, maybe it is your PSU maybe you just have not good of ram or its dead.....or it has errors, run memtest

ram has already been tested, I can't remember the brand of the PSU but it came with the case, and it does have a pcie out, and all my rails are stable, which made me hope the psu was good enough.

if I moved (temporarly) for example the hd and the cdrom to another psu, and that had no effect on score whatsoever, would that "rule out" the psu? Or doesn't a test like that make sense?

hm... I could even move the pcie card to another psu actually.

reinstalled drivers about 4000 times by now, yeah, it's all stock settings there, and I dont have 3dmark 03 atm.

useing sinthetic bench marks dosent help

nha, dont really care about synthetic tests either, but I figure if I replace all the hardware in my box with better hardware, and get lower scores, something's wrong.

just hooked my pcie card into a seperate PSU, and got 4371 points, so the psu ain't it here :/

I'm getting lower performance on this rig than my old one, and every piece in my old one is worse than what's in this :/

4.3k sounds ok for a 6800GT at STOCK

the question is WHAT DRIVERS are you useing 05 is almost all vid card

I just realized the NX6800GT-T2D256E which I bought says on the page where I bought it the core runs at 400mhz, but on the sites around (and my clock settings) I find it's on 350.....

guess that kinda screws with my comparison scale, and I'm using the latest non modified drivers right now Elios, which drivers are you using to hit 5k?

Not really that low. The average 6800gt score with generally your system specs is around 4500 I believe. And the 6800gt core clock is 350mhz.

1 something could be wrong in your BIOS?
2 check and make sure all setting with nVidia driver are to performance
3 you need to run memory at atleast 200mhz
