low 2900XT clocks....please help!!!

Okay, so I recently bought a 2900XT and was surprised by how poor the perfrmance was. When I went into CCC, under Graphics Hardware, it showed that my cards clocks were 507 Mhz for the core and 514 for the Memory. This seemed strange so I clicked on the ATI overdrive tab and tried to overclock - NOTHING worked. I tried to raisethe timings and pressed apply but they always dropped back to those same low speeds. Then I tried a whole bunch of other programs such as ATI Tool, Tray Tools, Riva Tunes, etc. None of them worked and they all also showed the same low clock speeds. I'm running on Windows Vista 32-bit - fully patched. I also have the Antec 850W power supply which is more than enough for this video card. I tried all kinds of ATI drivers and nothing helped. Is this a DOA?? I'm really concerned ....please help
 
The clocks you see in Windows are the 2D clocks. All new ATI cards downclock to lower speeds while not in 3D applications. As soon as you launch a full-screen 3D program (ie: games), the clocks will up themselves to the requested clocks (usually the advertised clocks).

So ... what you are seeing is normal. :)
