for some reason my hard drive is really loud...it makes noises that seem like grinding or something. I ask a friend if it was bad but he said that it was normal.... I thought I should ask a few other people to make sure. If Im not mistaken the harddrive is a seagate or something like that... not sure of the actual model. Just wanted to make sure this was ok... thanks.

should be making a clicking and motor turning sound, not a grinding sound, did you make sure it was the hard drive and not a wire touching a fan?

If it's suddenly being loud when it wasn't before then that's bad. Otherwise it's hard to tell.

1) Make sure you have a reliable, current backup of everything important on the drive.

2) Download Seagate SeaTools and do a full diagnostic on your drive.

Well its def not clicking but it could be a motor turning... grinding was the best way to descibe it. And I know for sure its not a wire on a fan.

I used the tools from seagate and it said everythign was ok... however I listened while the test was running and barely heard my hd running. Shouldnt it be running at max during this test? Thanks
