Losing Data After Restarts

I installed a brand new system last night, everything works except my WD SE 250GB SATA HDD is acting up, it will lose some data after every restart. For example, lets say I set my icon sizes in explorer to "list", 10 minutes later I would reboot for whatever reason, and it would come back to the regular size, another is Xfire, I tell it to boot up when windows starts up, and change some settings around, restart my comp, and everything is back to defaults on it and it doesn't boot up with windows... my Miranda IM doesn't want to remember I have MSN either.
I remember I forced the drive to be larger than 137GB before installing windows using it's install cd and it mentioned how it might lose data and stuff like that if the system doesn't have the LIMA 48 (forgot what it's exactly called) support, but Windows XP has it, right? So why is it doing this?
