And I really don't wanna pay $100-150 for a new router that kinda doesn't support DD-WRT.

My two options:

Purchase a WRT300N and use my WRT54G for my legacy G products to keep the N line fast.

Purchase a cheap N access point + a cheap 5-8 port Gigabit switch.

I'm kinda leaning towards the 2nd but I'd like to consider others thoughts.

I went with your 2nd option. Picked up DIR-625 for N and a Trendnet 8 port gigabit switch for my wired pcs.

Well to take advantage of the higher speeds of N, make sure it supports more then a 10/100 input for option 2.

How many pc's are on your network? You may just be better off to buy a router with 10/100/1000 and N. What features of dd-wrt do you need?
