I am looking for a nice case and need a little bit of help.
The case must have the following:

Made of steel. No light flimsy aluminum shit (just a preference)
Have nice "one piece" case window.
Cannot be an Antec/Chieftec case, or resemble it. You know what i'm talking about, NOT one of these

If anyone knows of a nice case like this for under $150, let me know.

Thanks

You could always just browse NewEgg a little bit. They have a nice "Advanced Search" funtion where you can specify all the things you just mentioned. Do a little work first, come back with a few cases that appeal to you and we'll give you opion's and experiences we have w/ those cases.

I have browsed their selection and they don't have much if you remove the Thermaltake, Chieftec, and Antec cases. Kinda sucks to be me...

why not aluminum? lian li makes some nice cases w/ good windows in aluminum. High quality stuff. And please, don't steal neweggs bandwidth.

I simply prefer the strength and durability that steel has over aluminum. I want to know that if i jump on my computer case that it won't break.

good luck on that

I agree with you wanting a steel case, I bought a Lian Li PC-75 a few years ago, and it's got all manner of scratches and dents in it from being taken to and from LAN parties. Aluminium is fine if you just want your case to sit under your desk and look nice, but I think steel is a necessity if you go to LANs. I'm definitely going to be buying a Chieftec this summer.

I can not believe what i am hearing. what are you doing with your case, throwing rocks at it. And why on earth would you want to stand on your case (wich steel would not hold up to your wait anymore than aluminum). Do you idiots understand the benifiets of a aluminum case. Just rember that a case is like a baby you want to handle it gently. I have taken my ALUMINUM case to over 25 lan parties and it still looks like it did the day I modded it. my brother even puts a sweatshirt over his when he transports it. I just cant get over what you guys are saying, this just blows my mind.

JEEVES

I can stand on my antec clone with windows on both panels.

If you would take the time to look before complaining, it's not leeched from newegg.

Do you not like the style of the Antec/Cheiftec case, or not like Cheiftec or Antec as a company? Both companies make some pretty nice cases that dont look like that one.

I use to do that when i had to bring my computer into work, it looked really funny, everyone was like "you trying to keep it warm?!?" helps though for transportation, keeps the scratches from the seatbelt off of it.;)

It looks like an Antec, but stands wayyyy apart from them, and can be modded extensively. The X-Superalien is a great case. Here's some pics of mine, I modded it to make the eyes glow red.

Benefits?? There is but one benefit to an aluminum case, weight.

Exactly, the only advantages are weight and maybe a little bit better heat dissipation. I also hate how aluminum cases feel, they are too light and flimsy feeling. I feel as though if I lift it by the handle, it is going to snap in half. Granted there are some nice looking Antec, Chieftec, and Lian-Li cased, but they are either to light and flimsy or everyone and their mom has the case already. Now if they made a Lian-Li PC-65 case out of steel then I would buy it in half a heart beat, but they don't.

well said, my case that im modding is a steel fulltower and weighs 25-30lb empty! :D

I have steel and aluminum cases and I go to enough lans. IMO I think that aluminum is much better in many ways because it is:

1. Lighter
2. Looks better
3. Easier to mod (using a dremel)
4. etc...

The only downside I have found is that my Lian-Li case thumbscrews strip very easy b/c of the aluminum.

I have been going to LANs pretty much every weekend since 2001 and now that I bring my 21inch monitor and my computer chair, it would be nice to have a light computer case. I just hate knowing that if I get an aluminum case it probably won't last as long as a steel one, so then I will have to buy another cause the aluminum one would break. Now if I got an aluminum case and was super uber careful with it like a baby on a momma’s tit, I am sure it would last a long time and be in perfect condition. But doing that is a huge pain in the ass. Either way, Aluminum or Steel, it is just a preference and both have their advantages.

So back to the topic... Does any one know of a nice steel case?

Why not a titanium alloy case? The strength of steel with the weight of aluminum.

www.addtronics.com - several steel cases.

For a steel cube:
YY cube case - I have only sat on one, haven't stood on it. Do an ebay search for cube case to find one of these - that is usually the way to get the best price on it.
