Looking for new Speakers

Dan of Dan's Data is great an analysing speaker power claims, by doing inconvenient things like actually opening the speakers up and looking at the power ratings on them. Not surprisingly, most of them seem to be somewhat economical with the truth.
 
Agreed. The hype over all this wattage can be summed up in one simple word: "Marketing" :)

Keep an eye on Audiogon.. I wouldn't be surprised to see SP3's showing up soon when people upgrade to bigger, better things.

Also, I was being somewhat facetious about my quote anyways..my SP3 can dump out over 100dB, and that's at half volume.
 
OMG OMG OMG OMG free z 5500!!!!
i orderd the z5500 from dell a while back, checked the tracking every day, and one day it sayed delivered... to the totaly wrong city, i called dell, they said, yup, and sent me another one, next day shipping + proccessing. just got it today... both of them!!!! must be the shipping company scanned it wrong, thier fault of course because dell saw it too. but the shipping stil says deliverd on the tracking. i wont open it for a while... but man, ill expect a email from dell, so im not going to do anything with it for a while, but wow, what a screw up

Edit: opening them now. they now have wires not attached to the speakers.

Lol lucky guy, But I'm pretty sure they will catch up on it soon.
 
ya, im leaving it in its shipping box and everything. not making any plans for it any time soon. ill give it about 30 days before i even THINK about opening it. im not going to get myself screwed... they will probably just steel the money from my bank account without even telling me. if they want it back, they are paying for shipping. not my fault......
im sitting on the sub as im tying this by the way. its really big...

edit: set them up. after loosing one of the wires.... i cut 1 and made it into 2, i turned it on... make sure the cables are pluged in all the way. after fixing that played it. really nice. havnt worked up the balls to turn it up really loud yet, save that for weekend (in a baracks). if my z640s could talk, when i turn them up loud they would say "PLEASE TURN ME DOWN, THIS HURTS ALOT!" thies have no problem. they keep all quality so far. look great. the sub takes up all the space under my desk. huge, 2 or 3 times bigger than the z640 sub. literaly. nice foot warmer too.

Umm how did you manage to lose one set of cables already? Didn't you just open up the box? :p
