Hey guys I am looking to get a 5 Mega Pixel digital camera and my friend recommended the Canon Powershot S50 but there are so many out there I just don't know which one will get me the best camera for the money. I am looking for a camera around $450...

Just wondering why you feel you need a 5mp camera?

Often times you can get a better camera with less MP.

I agree, this is what you are really going to need to consider.

Personally I use a 5 MP Nikon 5400. It has some things other cameras don't but also doesn't have some stuff others do. I chose it because it has awesome macro capabilities and wide zoom. Each camera has its +'s and -'s, find out which one best suits YOU. ;)

What types of things will you be photographing? Will you need a lot of zoom or no? Macro? Good continuous functions? etc...
