Is it just me or is the subwoofer on the z-2200 really shitty?

I mean, the satts are amazing, but the sub feels like its not doing a damn thing. I constantly have it all the way up and can't feel it at all over the satts. In comparison, my old cambridge fps2000 or my friend's z-3 logitechs will have a strong bass at even 50% (normal). I'm constantly max and cant compete over the mid and treble on the system.

If I pull up the bass via computer, itll distort like crazy. Very unclean sounding subwoofer if I crank everything up

I thought they said these things rocked?
 
The bass is extremely powerful but I do find that sometimes the mids-highs drown it out. I don't find my subwoofer distorts if I turn up bass from windows, my satellites do though. I haven't really had a chance to push my speakers because there's always someone home. But from what I heard if you set the sats a bit further away then the bass will sound much louder, I can hear only bass from upstairs but once I come in front of my computer I find the bass loses it's punch. But for 80$ (canadian) I really can't complain, they kick the crap out of my old Z-640s :)
 
My room mate and I both bot a set of z-2200s. This dowm is pretty thick and I can always here the bass. I even downloaded some programs to lighten up the harmonic bass and the drum bass because it was way to loud! Maybe you have a problem with your sub if this is the case because if anything they are way too boomy.
