Well, got the MX1000 about a month ago. It was great for the first couple weeks, then all of a sudden, the cursor became erratic. If you moved the mouse slightly, sometimes it would jump three or four pixels more than you would expect, and sometimes even in the opposite direction that you wanted! I got fed up and figured it to be a software issue, reloaded win2k and all the drivers. Updated the mouse drivers, and still no dice. It did work on PS2, but that was not an option considering this unit will be installed on my highly modified ON3 UP machine currently in the Worklogs section of [H] Forums. Looked around the net, and found several other people who have the same issue. Logitech apparently has been sending new base stations to affected mouse models, its an issue with using USB instead of PS2 and the base station/mouse model numbers. So if you want an MX1000, be prepared to have to call Logitech tech support for a replacement. Only certain ones screw up. YMMV....
I called Logitech and spoke with a rather nice, english speaking person who was aware of the problem and was willing to help. Told him this was for a high-profile mod that may appear in magazines, so he has shipped the ENTIRE mouse package! Score! I had planned to modify the base station and mouse cover as well, so this actually makes it easier to do, considering I'll have two of everything! That also means I'll have a replacement battery in the freezer for when the new one finally stops charging! Yay!
Just thought I'd toss this info in here in case someone else has a question about this problem or wants an MX1000 in the near future. ;)
This is my second problematic Logitech mouse. I also started a thread about my MX510 right click button switch breaking. I'm starting to have less faith in logitech lately.

I have seemed to have this problem with my MX1000 too, when I move the mouse slowly it seems very inprecise and the pointer slighty jumps (a few pixels maybe) around as it moves. I went out and got myself a fUnc1030 and I haven't noticed the problem with the new mousepad, but I still notice it on any traditional cloth mousepad.

Hmmm.
I thought that might be the problem, since I use the MX1000 on the easy chair and a worn-down (from mice!) table top. But I tried some nice surfaces and they too had an imprecise feel. There is a problem with the base stations as Logi is sending affected users new ones. It's a bonus to get the whole package from them, and they did this for me. Their service is exceptional but the products seem to be going down in quality/QC.
