Anyone know how to take apart the Logitech MX 1000 Laser mouse.
I would like to change the LED in it.

Thanks

i don't think there is an LED in it, hence why the mouse is so special. I uses an actual laser. Unless your talking about the battery indicator.

You are correct, i am talking about the battery indicator. Any ideas?

Thanks

Those LEDs are most probably surface mounted, good luck soldering them ;)

Now isnt that fun :p

Most LEDS today ARE surface mounted, theres a good chane that on something so small like a mouse they are.

ah doesnt seem so bad, dude here moded his MX510 blue with 2 high powered blue leds, they were surface mounted IIRC :p

good luck man, post a worklog preez! :D

As someone else said try looking under the little pads that your mouse slides on. And I think that LED will definately be surface mounted so you're going to have to be really really careful.

It would be cool to have a green - yellow - red config.

I don't notice that mine is near the end until it starts crapping out in the middle of combat.

Yeah, its just getting it soldered on there fast enough so you dont damage the LED!

now if someone can mod a laser mouse so the laser actually burns a hole through your desk, then I'll be impressed :p :D :p

Lan party combat! lol

But yeah I hate soldering the tiny LED's they are a PITA...

Really? Cold Heat is still a PITA for small parts?

I was thinking about getting one to do little LED mods myself...

Who has actually used it? Any feedbacks?

I have one, and as long as you get the cone tip (an extra couple $) you can do small components.
