What are the pig-tails on the front usb to mobo plug for? Just to hook something else in? Kind of a noob question but I've never had a case with this type of pig-tailed plug.
 
Pigtails? Not sure what you mean. Can you take a pic?

Are you talking about the piggybacked plug off the front audio plug?

Exactly! Are the "pig-tails" for hooking other components in? Is that what you mean by "piggyback"
 
They are for motherboards that may not have standard pin placement, they allow you to connect the ports to odd configurations.
