what are the best additives for helping in the cooling of the liquid that goes through the water system? because alcohol seems the best one to me, but i want to be sure.

Alcohol is probably not the best thing to use. In a high enough concentration, it can cause dry-rot on the tubing. I use a mixture of distilled water with 10-15% Zerex G-05 coolant and about a spoonfull of betadine. With the G-05, the beteadine is probably not necessary.
