Just a quick question of the PC6x cases:

Does the bottom hard drive cage slide out away from the case?

Thanks guys.

[EDIT]: Where is the cheapest place to get them?

Lian Li are really expensive cases. If you really want to you can try Ebay or Frozencpu.com / newegg.com

Yes on the 6X Series it slides out towards the windowed side, on the 7X Series only the 'Plus' Series slides off.

I picked up a PC-60 (older style, with the raised area for the power and reset switches) on eBay for about $42 (it's been a few months, so I don't remember the exact price). Just keep an eye out for them, you can end up finding them cheap if you do.

Just to clarify....on the PC-6x series (as in PC-65) it does, with the PC-7x series (as in PC-75) it does.

The cases are expensive...but I've owned three Lian-Li PC-6x cases (on my third) and don't plan on using anything else for some time.

PC65 = Window
PC60 = No Window

Both of them have the same HD cage configuration.
(They both slide to the Left if you facing the front of the Case)

I cant be totally sure but if you buy a new sidepanel (aftermarket) the one that is designated PC-61 will fit all PC-6X and all PC-7b. I have read this on numerous sites and the measurements seem to fit.

Also, I have the PC-7b from newegg (no longer for sale) and I pulled out the lower HDD cage. I reversemounted my drive in the 3.5 bay.

Kinda missleading there bro....to say that "the one that is designated PC-61 will fit all PC-6X and all PC-7X" technically means that it would fit the PC-70....which is what that "x" usually means. The panel meant to fit the PC-60 and PC-61 will fit the PC-7B (120mm fan variant)...and should also fit other similar models, such as the 6077.

the pc-7x means pc-70 (the big one) and its varients. the pc-7(b) is the budget version of the pc-6x. it has no removeable motherboard tray, no fan speed controller, and a different HDD cage. (3 drives instead of 5 or w/e the pc-6x has, mounted horizontally instead of vertically like the pc-6x)
mwhahaha

I dunno, personally I prefer the PC-7 Plus.....sure there's no removable mobo tray...but I never USE the removable tray in my PC-60 anyways...and the 120mm fans in the PC-7 Plus are a welcome change.

So awsome to hear you say that cuz last week I spent 2 hours deliberating and ended up picking that exact one.

Nice...I'm pretty sure that's what I'm going with.....gonna pickup a PC-7B Plus to run h2O for my CPU and video card...wanna end up with a voltmodded 7800GTX and an X2 4400+ on water by the end of the year.

A local shop is gonna give me the PC-7B Plus for cost if I get their logo painted in a corner/somewhere on the case....so I'll have it about an inch square in the bottom right corner of the case...cus this biotch is gonna be modded quite a bit...and will be my nicest case yet.

Gonna get all my cuts done and send the case to smooth creations...the ppl who do the paintjobs for Falcon NW....here's some nice examples...gonna do a metallic black or something, but I love the finish on those cases....

Oh man, that's alot of $ on the design for it should be sweet. How much is cost? I got mine for $105 I think. It's coming Friday. I'm planning the standard Uber clean wiring job of course, on my DFI Nf4 Ultra, and then getting watercooling for my 6800GT and 3700+. Planning on mounting the 2x120mm rad in top drivebay and having the fans exaust out the top with thick wire mesh covering the holes. Should be sweet. I'm also cutting my own custom window, so not sure if I'll do some special design. Thinking about possibly an etch or something in it. Toyed wtih painting inside black, but probably don't have much time for that.

I really have to decide if I wanna move to water cooling or stick with air for this setup...cus once I get that case I'm gonna have to get the cuts done that I want...and that would include a 120mm radiator in the top of the case.....but I spose I could do the cut regardless and just use it for a top exhaust fan if I didn't go with water.

Man, I'm gonna think up a really slick design or something to get painted on the cases exterior so it's not just solid black...even if it's just a simple geometric thing...black case with silver/metallic grey accents or something, i dunno...we'll see.

that case should turn out awesome, be sure to post some nice pics of it.

or we'll have to kill you. (through the internet)

the pc-7 was originally the budget lian li... when i got my pc-7b, it was $100 and the pc-61 was $170 or something. now, they've improved the value with the plus model. but that is a new model (as you most likely know)

now, of course, the pc-6x is under $100 and it is the vx000 that is pricy. (relatively)

i just wish i could get my hands on a new sidepanel for my pc-7. i know sotrick sells them, but i gotta get the $20 and a CC first. heh.
mwhahaha

I forgot about PC-70 so I made the necessary changes to my original post.

I never knew that the PC-7b was the budget PC-6X, I chose mine becuase I liked the front grill alot more than the PC-6 series. Mine has a sort of rounded brick pattern in the front.

Ah well, once more I say goodbye to my Lian-Li.....moving to a P4 based shuttle setup...I'll miss 'er. :(

You can just buy a separate side panel? Thinking when I go for the window mod and god forbid I mess it all up. Is sotrick a website, or a forum member? lol

I can't even remember, but I had been given a link to a site that does sell blank panels and just about every other Lian-Li part you could order...arg, can't remember it now.

I'm trying to find this, and their website is slow as anything for starters. My case came pre-windowed, and I intended on cutting my own.

hmm... looks like they have silver, but no longer black. silver is only $10, tho.

that what you're looking for?
mwhahaha

Yes, but in black, and it's for PC-7. Are they the same sidepanel?

Thats what I was trying to say before, the PC-6 and PC-7 side panels (not PC-70) are supposed to be interchangeable. I was going to get one to see what I could pull off in terms of dremeling.
There is another shop that sells them in black. It took me about an hour to find it in google (bored at work) and I found another site that said PC-61 side panels (thats what they sale them as) will fit PC-61, PC-60, PC-7 and I think I missed 2 others.

EDIT:

This is the same side panel that is on the PC-65. It will fit the following:
# PC-7
# PC-60
# PC-601
# PC-65
# PC-67
# PC-68
# PC-82

There you go, thats from their site.
