This might be a dumb question, but are 64 bit prescotts out on the LGA775 platform? I'm just curious because I read that the 925 chipset is compatible with 64 bit processors. If this is the case would I be able to buy a 925 mobo and a LGA775 32 bit processor and later throw in a 64 bit LGA775 processor? Or the 64 bit processors need a different socket?

wouldnt surprise me

Socket 775 is supposed to be here for quite awhilem apparently it will also work with dual core chips

Why only Dell?

So far it is an OEM processor only (and may remain that way, we don't know) and it is a limited release.. Dell is Intel's biggest customer, so they always get everything first, I expect other OEMs to get them soon, and then after that, places like NewEgg will have them.. but still as OEM processors (not boxed)

OEM = original equiptment manufactuer.
