These LG "borderless" TVs look beautiful from the photos, but does anyone have experience with them?

LG Official Page: http://www.lge.com/us/sl80/index.jsp

There seems to be no official reviews for these TVs (They have a 42 and 47 CCFL and a 42 and 47 LED edge-lit).

You can find *REALLY* good prices for these on the web, and I am thinking of picking one up, just want to hear opinions first.

Borderless my ass :). They must be referring to the front panel and glass being integrated into one piece. Looks nice, but 240hz isn't useful as a PC display - you'd have to shut it off or suffer from pretty nasty input lag. LG generally uses IPS panels in their TV's, so IQ would be oustanding.

Sorry no experience with them but can anyone explain me how exactly are those TVs borderless?

Ya, a bonehead move.

Does it look nice? of course, but integrating the two together does not make it "borderless", it's just another bastardized phrase now to be lumped together with "dynamic contrast" imho.

now they can include the bezel into screen size real estate and charge more for a bigger TV ...

I mainly care about how the picture will look and not if it is perfectly "borderless. :)

I am also looking at this 50" Plasma:

Anyone have experience with Samsung Plasmas and if the picture is top-notch? Most people I hear about say no plasma because of IR, but that doesn't seem to be a huge problem anymore.

Here's a great place for feedback: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=9

Each display technology has it's own subforum.

Samsung, LG, Panasonic all make good plasma HDTV. Some reviews will say one has better colours over another but IMO that is because they don't calibrate them properly. My LG plasma received generally quite good reviews but a few said the colors were over saturated. Well, it they took the time to calibrate them properly they would have found that is not the case at all. I don't like over saturated colors so know they are FoS because I set up color to be quite muted compared to what the average person uses because when you look around you in the real world colors are not saturated and contrasty as all TVs are set up to be by default.

IR is less now on plasma because they have an option to move the screen a pixel or two every couple of minutes but it doesn't completely negate the potential of IR. I haven't had any problems with IR though and I use mine for PS3 gaming too.

I was offered a 47SL90 to substitute the 47LH90 they had out of stock from a slickdeal. I think most people stuck with the 47LH90, has better contrast ratio, 240hz vs 120hz, and is backlit LED vs edge lit.

The SL90 series look amazing in aesthetics, but I'm getting a TV to look at the picture, not the frame or lack there of.

That being said, I also have the Samsung 50" B650 plasma, and I much prefer the picture and no messed up fast moving images on the plasma, and it should cost around $300-400 less. Probably even more than the SL90s.
