I have a problem with my LG-4520B drive. Everything on it works fine except when it comes to reading normal CDs. I also have a 4120B in my computer that can read the exact same CDs that the 4520 can’t. Doesn’t matter what CD it is but it can’t read them. It can only burn and read DVDs. Any ideas how to fix this ?

When you say normal CDs, does this mean pressed-at-the-factory Audio CDs and data CDs? Does it read CD-R(W) discs ok? You said it could burn DVD's, I've had this drive for a while, it's just a CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive, it cannot burn DVDs.

SOrry my bad. I didn't mean it can burn dvds.

It can sometimes read factory cds but has the most trouble with burned cds/ it has the same problem with cd-rw discs as it does with cd-r.

Is there a firmware update? I can't seem to find one anywhere. Or maybe a driver somewherE?

Would the aspi layer have anything to do with it?
