Requirements:

1. Dimensions mimicking to the best of your abilities a home console.
2. Dedicated graphics card
3. External PSU brick or normal PSU.
4. Front USB ports or an internal Microsoft USB dongle adapter.
5. Front power and reset buttons

A CD drive is not a requirement (who uses those!).

All hardware specific items are up to you. I came up with this because lord knows we all have a lot of spare parts lying around other than enclosures.

After seeing last year's Dell Alienware
X51
and now the future official Steam boxes I believe this will be a new trend for living room setups.

Personally I'm looking at the Antec VSK-3000 w/ a Corsair Builder Series 500.

I cannot find a case even remotely similar to the way the X51 handles the internals to keep dimensions in check, and if you know of something similar I'd be interested to see.

Those with an i3 550, 8Gb of ram, 40gb SSD 1TB HD, a GTX 660 and 360 remote. Booting straight into Steam BP from powering on.

Some will be going mITX with a Q08 I'm sure as I've used them before but in my case I'm stuck with mATX.

Any suggestions on what requirements should be in place?

I did something like this. Made a itx box just for Rocksmith. But it runs win7. Would be nice to turn it on and boot right to Steam or Origin.

I would love to have a box that boots straight to steam, I would want to be able to download it and run it on my own hardware though.
