Hey guys i just put together a new setup
using a gt240 rad and clear flex 1/2 id hose. But for the love of god i cannot stop the leaks from where the tubing slides on the barbs for the rad. Ive tried 2 clamps on each one but it just manages to squeeze through. its doing it on both barbs. everything else in the loop is using the plastic barbs from swiftech and thoes are fine. im thinking either the hose is too big or the barbs on the rad are a little too small causing the hose to crimp up and leave a little gap for air/water to pass by. kinda annoying as ive done a few setups and this is the first thing that leaks!

any suggestions?

well i the hose does fit over the barb kinda easy but not like 3/8 easy. i have a swiftech 3/8 barb that came with the apogee just to make sure and its obviously too small since the tube will just engulf the whole thing w/no problem
 
Are you sure the barbs threading isn't leaking?

I had to get teflon tape on my plastic radiator barbs to stop it from leaking, along with tourqing them right down till it won't move anymore.
 
yea i checked on the barbs i have the chrome barbs on their pretty tight, the rubber ring gasket looks like a flat pankake since its being squished in there pretty good


seems to be leaking from the tube side
 
why not try this: put a zip tie infront of barbs so it squeezes the hose a bit, this just might do the trick and stop that infernal leak thats blaguing you. by the way what kind of barbs do you use?
 
The ones i got with the gt 240

they were chrome fittings. Not sure if they are made by blackice/hardware labs or just supplied by the vendor.
 
Well, try aquarium silicone and put a thin layer around the hose/barb and seal it off. Since the silicone is water resistant and clear, you will not see it and it does the job well. Works for me every time.
You can get these at the hardware store such as Lowes or Home Depot (in the caulk/glue section).
 
well i got some new barbs coming in. they might have just been a weeee too small. Thanks for input everyone :)
 
got new barbs from jab-tech and no leaks. joy!
