I'm having trouble deciding between these two brands. Both have good reviews, but it seems the Leadtek has a better heatsink, although one reviewer said it just disperses the heat into one's case.

But I was planning on getting an NV Silencer 5 or something for whichever card I get. Any help?

Which is why I'm asking here :p

Hey bro, I just got my PNY 6800 Sunday and I love it. I bought it at Compusa for $299.99. What made me decide was the reference heatsink fan, I like that design better than the Leadtek or the BFG. ( I could have gone with either brand but the HSF was the deciding factor for me :) )

So far, I love my new vidcard, it sure beats my old PNY 5200, I run all my games on the highest possible settings and I can't wait until I buy Doom3 on Friday :D !

I would go Leadtek IMO, but they should both be ok

Yeah honestly, no matter what do, you get a 6800 right :p?

Oh, another factor why I went with Pny was the price.

Fry's had:
Leadtek 6800 - $349.99 (came with 3 games)
BFG 6800 Overclocked - $299.99

and Compusa had my Pny (as previously stated :) )

i have a pny and it seems to run great, i do have some overclocking problems mainly with the memory part...as you can see...thats why im going to return it since im under the 14 day warrenty and try another pny, see if it OCs any better ;)

edit: i do with compusa sold gainward or msi, ive seen some good OC core/mem from those

349!? Its only $282 on newegg.

You guys think the PNY heatsink is better than the Leadtek? The PNY one is all blackish, while the Leadtek one is nice and copper and looks like it would cool better.

It's so hard to decide.

Yeah I know that, I checked before hand just for reference).

I just thought the original poster wanted to know of Brick-and-mortar stores (physical stores) rather than online stores. Which is why I mentioned Fry's and Compusa! Thanks though :)

Well, it seems as though you have made your decision (subconsciously) already :) . Try the Leadtek one, it wouldn't hurt right? I think deep down you like the aestethics of the Leadtek 6800 so try it out man and let us know!

Goodluck with your purchasing decisions, I know its pretty tough forking over that much of money and the hardware isn't even considered as top of the line :( . But its a sad, sad addiction to get your computer the way you like it right? lol)

About the Pny heatsink being blackish, it's a matter of preference I guess, i like it because it reminds me of when I first saw pictures and videos of it from the Nvidia Launch. I was tempted to just buy the BFG OC one when I first saw it at Fry's but, I just had to get the reference heatsink that Nvidia made because I liked the design. :p

Now I'm contemplating buying that Gainward 6800 GT. This is torture! I dunno what to do, heh. I'm not a rich man!
