Yeah ive read the lcd faq and it has got me wanting to play around with lcd's. I already have a lcd picked out that uses a parallel interface, which kills the programming the lcd fun unless I convert it to another interface. (And using a converter gives me way more choices of lcds in the future)
From the guide ive found the following options,
http://www.usblcd.de/products/showprod.php4?gr=1&lang=en -USB2LCD, not sure if the driver creates a virtual com port like others at crystalfont so I can use existing programs / example code. (btw, how much is this in us dollars? I feel like im converting incorrectly.)
http://www.seetron.com/slcds.htm - serial backpack, comes out to $38.00 shipped which is a little more than I would like to spend on such a simple device.
Im also trying to look at one of the UltraSI modules, takes quite a bit for them to just send me a price for a single unit, getting to be more trouble than its worth. Supposedly they are going to email me with a quote, still havent gotten it.

I could probably just get a serial lcd, but I really want a blue backlit one to match my setup. (Its gotta look nice right?) [Dont like the buttons on the crystalfontz one, not to mention the price]
