Here's my situation, which I'd like some advice on:
I currently have a LaCie ElectronBlue22IV. Basically it's a pro 22" CRT. Well and good except that it really doesn't have that good a focus or geometry. I probably got a lemon but I've been unable to convince the manufacturer to do anything about it so I've just lived with it and used it at a somewhat low resolution.
Well I'm a little tired of it and thinking of something new, which probably means an LCD, but I'm nervous as LCD picture quality. Also because I don't have a lot of shops with high end products locally I'm probably going to have to buy cold, having never seen the display.
So what I'd like and what I do: I'd like something large, 1600x1200 at least and I'm leaning towards a widescreen 1920x1200. I do a lot of reading/writing of text and work with static 2d displays (pro audio if you are wondering). I want a nice, crisp image with lots of room to work in. However I also play games of all sorts. Sims, FPSes, etc. So it needs to be able to respond for that kind of thing. I don't do movies much, I have a TV for that, and the image editing I do is uncritical work, just little things for the web. However I do rather like good colour. That's one of the things I love about my CRT, the deep, rich colour.
Currently what I'm eyeing is a Sony SDM-P234. The price is good (I think) and I like the size. However I'm wondering how it would work for games.
So, any opinions? Any other monitors I ought to be examining? Should I just suck it up and keep my CRT?
Thanks for the advice.
