Alright, both of my CRTs are getting old and want to get a good LCD monitor for gaming.

The only requirements, would be fast (ie. low to none "tracers" from fast moving graphics..... what's that called again? what's good? anything under 25ms? I forgot what it's called)... also need something that will last me awhile... the monitor I have now has last me though 3-4 complete system rebuilds and would be willing to pay a high price since monitor don't get outdated as fast (compared to other computer parts). I'll looking for something atleast 19, might go more if it's not an insane price. My budget is flexiable, but my soft limit is around $2500 or so. Needs to do atleast 1024x768.

My Sony SDM-HX73 is absolutely, without a doubt, the best LCD I have ever owned! I have owned more than 10 different LCD's over the past two years and this particular Sony eats everything else alive!!! The auto sensing adjust feature is amazing also. You can pick one up used for around $400 from what I have seen on Egay

16ms response time with not one bit of 'ghosting'. Not to mention a nice 1280x1024 native res:)

Honestly, I think spending anything over $1000 on a monitor is pretty crazy... (even that is a major splurge for me)... a year or two from now monitors will be better and much cheaper.... and you'll wish you hadn't spent so much... My advice is, if you are going to blow $2500 buy something for ~$750 now and keep the rest on hand for an upgrade down the road. Remember, the backlights in these things have a finite lifetime... and organic LED screens are coming....
 
I think that the lifetime of an lcd is usually deterimined by the mean time before failure of the backlight... the numbers I've seen run from 30,000 hours to 60,000 hours...

if you use your monitor for about 12 hours a day (thats more than i use it) and it has a 30,000 hour lifetime that is 6.85 years not bad
