I have an Acer AL2216W (shown here). Starting about a month ago this yellow line appeared vertically almost in the center of the screen. I would simply tap the LCD and it would go away for a few hours. Then it progressed into having to rock the LCD back on its stand, that would make it go away. Now nothing will.

I have tried toying with the LCD settings, UDeadpixel, messing with video card settings. Nothing has worked. It remains when the DVI cable is detached.

I actually did get it to go away just now, by grabbing each side of the LCD and twisting. It seems like there might be something loose or touching inside. I would pop it open but I have no idea what to look for. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

The AL2216w has a 3 year warranty

Check your serial number on the site if your not sure how long its been since you bought it

And if you open it, be very careful about static electricity.
(most people here probably think: "yeah, thats what they say about messing around in your computer as well - it has worked great for me for xx years!", well, LCDs are sooo much more sensitive than 'ordinary' hardware - I've never heard anyone break his graphic-card or whatever with static electricity but read about a few people that have fried their LCDs (and keep in mind that it's way more common to open your PC-case than your monitor))

Awesome, I didn't think of that. It's still under warranty. Thanks.

Now just the question of what I will use until it comes back...
