LCD "dust"?

I recently bought one of the new LG laptops (sent in for repair now), and I noticed something very annoying about it.

The LCD looks like it has some sort of "dust" or "dirt" on the inside of it, distorting the image.

It's a 15" 1400x1050 SXGA (iirc), and it's as if the screen were dirty; except it covers the entire LCD. It is not TOO noticeable, not at all noticeable on darker colours, but when the colours get lighter (such as light green, especially on whites and grays), it is highly noticeable, as it appers to become pixelated, but the "dust" is smaller than the pixels.

I went to the nearest Future Shop (which is like the Canadian version of Best Buy) and checked out the laptops there, none of them have this effect, to nearly this degree.

It's as if the LCD screen weren't smooth on the inside, but had little bumps all over it, creating specks all over the inside.

It spans the whole monitor.

As for you photographers out there, I also find it EXTREMELY hard to take a picture of, even in manual focus, any tips (shutter speed/aperture settings)?

And anyways the main question, is this normal for a LCD? Is this just a lower quality one?

Either way, I have sent it back for repairs. I guess I will know the answer if I see the same effect it comes back.

It makes no sense for a huge LCD manufacturer such as LG to use such a low quality LCD on their own line of laptops.

Or perhaps this is a side effect of the high resoultion?

Any other opinions?

I just heard from a friend that this is normal, and it will slowly "shrink" away into the corners; has anyone else experienced this?
 
Well.. LCD's are not as crisp and clear as CRT's. It's the same with my Dell laptop.. but I never compared it to dust. Mainly that it's not as crisp and clear as a CRT.

Maybe it will get clearer.. not sure. Interesting though..
 
Most other LCDs are clearer than mine.. there are like miniature multicoloured "specks" all over the screen.

I went and checked out my friend's LCD, my brother's laptop, and I even went to a store to check out laptops.. they all seemed to be fine.
