I use a 50/50 mix of isopropyl and water for my laptops lcd screen which is a non gloss screen.

I am asking this because I recently bought an Asus VW266H LCD and it appears to have a very similar screen to my laptop but the instructions say
Avoid using a cleaner containing alcohol or acetone. Use a cleaner intended
for use with the LCD. Never spray cleaner directly on the screen, as it may drip
inside the monitor and cause an electric shock.

So what do you use on glossy and non glossy screens?

I use water and a microfiber cloth. Don't really need anything else really.

Best to turn the display off and shine a bright flashlight on it to make sure you've gotten it completely clean/didn't leave any streaks.

Distilled water and a microfiber cloth. Both can usually be found for cheap in a grocery store, or at an eyeglasses store.

Eventually, there may be oils or dirt that distilled water won't get off; in that case, use 50/50 distilled water and isopropyl alcohol, but do that as few times as possible. Alcohol can interfere with fragile finishes if overused. Glossy finishes tend to be more fragile than matte finishes.

Never, ever use Windex or other ammonia-based cleaners - those WILL ruin the finish on your LCD screen.

Klear Screen 2-Step Wipes. These have worked great, I'm lazy and rarely use more than 4 a year unless I hand one out to family or a friend. So buying them in the disposable wipes pack makes sense to me, they're $7.99 at FRYs. You get 12 uses. (2-Packs each, One dry One wet) No Alcohol or Amonia. Who knows, maybe I'm buying a 12pack of overpriced distilled water @ at buck a gram!

I use eagle one 20/20 car window cleaner. Safe for tint, safe for LCD. No amonia.

Have been using it for few years now and it works like a charm

Monster Screen Cleaner. Stuff is like 15 bucks and it comes with a cloth and a spray bottle that will last a normal user for a few years easy. When I was a notebook tech we used it and a single bottle would last us months using it on 10 machines daily.

The stuff is made by someone else for monster although I can't think of the name. I've always used the monster branded one because I can pick it up in town.

Pretty much buy those indivually packed cleaners and stay away from those bucket dispensers, once you get one out, the rest will dry very quickly and as MrkXCeL pointed out, you rarely need them to clean the LCD since it's not a static dust trap like CRT used to be ;)

Monitor wipes from BestBuy; easy to use, does a great job, and they are cheap. Use them on the monitor and keyboard, then just throw 'm away.

I just use a regular old paper towel, dab a corner of it with some regular old tap water, and very lightly wipe off any spit marks or finger marks I've got on the screen. I use the other corner of the towel to dry it all off.

Very easy, cheap if not free, screen looks brand new. This is on the monitor in the sig (matte finish).

My screen came with a little microfiber cloth, and the manual recommends just water or a dilute vinegar solution. Buying special cleaning fluids and equipment = throwing money away.
