Well I left my LCD (viewsonic VP191b) on for a maybe an hour on a news page and now I have green ghost images of the hyperlinks left on my screen when viewing any color that is not black or white. Anyone ever hear of this before?

Edit: Not really hyperlinks but some "full story" links and bits of an image.

Edit #2:

Just get a fullsized white screen and keep it on overnight (might want to put a cover on it). That should get rid of it.

I'l do that while I'm out tomorrow but what is it I am seeing?

Lazy pixles are what your seeing, some monitors will get them when leaft on more "extreem" colors for long periods of time. However, unlike CRT's, these can be fixed easaly by leaving the LCD on a full white screen for a few hours (overnight at longest).

heheh, damn them lazy pixels.. if only they'd get off the couch and get a job.

The effect is called either "Image Persistence" or "Image Retention".

We got a new sequencer a few months ago, and the LCD that came with it was left on the same image for over 3 months (December to February), and now you can the faint after image when the monitor is off!

I’ll have to post images later, it’s really funny.

Call it lazy pixels or whatever, it can get really annoying at times. The best fix for this is like others have said, leave a solid white image on the screen for a period of time. Usually an hour is good enough to totally wipe the 'etch a sketch'. :)

And the best preventitave measure if your LCD is prone to this effect is to go retro and enable a screensaver. Yup.. the screensaver is back in style!

Monitors with 'overdriven' LCD panels seem most susceptable to what I like to call 'etch-a-sketch' syndrome. Not quite burn-in, but similar and not permanent.

I like that, etch a sketch syndrome.

I APPROVE OF THIS POST.

Hey, thats crazy.. i always knew the LCD's could burn images on the screen and stay like that. but, i didnt know it was fixable. ive got mine set to turn off after 2 minutes idle :p just bein safe. but if something ever goes wrong ill be sure to set a all white screen up with a blanket on it! :)
