Latest Drivers messing up?

I finally got around to going to ATI's webpage to update the drivers for the card in my sig. I went up to their drivers & software tab and selected my OS and family and such and DL'd the latest drivers. I then went and uninstalled my old drivers and their accompanying programs (yes, in the proper order) and restared my computer into safe mode. I ran Driver Cleaner twice, and restarted normally. I then installed the new drivers and restarted. Windows boots normally and everything, but after it has loaded a couple programs into my system tray, I get these vertical distortions all across my screen. It's not artefacting or anything, but it's just distorting the icons/wallpaper that's behind each "bar" so to speak. I also lose vertical control of my mouse. So I hit the windows key and restarted. This time it pops up with and error message saying the driver could not complete a drawing operation. Interesting. So I'm waiting for it to finish loading when my mouse cursor disappears. Fuck. The computer then restarts on it' own. No distortions or anything, though. I get the same error message again. Nothing happens this time in the way of messing up or restarting. I play Source for a while, testing out the drivers, and then I go back to 1.6. Now it tells me that the video mode is not supported (OpenGL?!), and it's starting into software mode. So I go into options and switch it over to D3D. That works all well and good, but when I slap it back up to 10 by 7 and put the color back to highest quality, if screws up again and I have to restart. I dunno what's going on. I tried rolling back, but I remembered I'd uninstalled everything, so that obviously didn't work. Any Ideas? My profile tells me I am on Catalyst 4.11, and the 2D thing says 6.14.10.6490.
