I attend college and want to have a monitor for my laptop. At the same time, would it be possible to play xbox360 on this same monitor without having to disconnect my laptop? Laptop has a vga port, and i already have a vga cable for 360. Opinions needed and greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you don't mind spending a little more than $500 you can get a decent 20/21 incher that supports component inputs. Check out the samsung 215tw. Otherwise, pick up any other monitor that catches your fancy and get a vga switch. That should set you back about $20 or so from ebay or your local radio shack.
