Hey Guys,

I've recently started playing battlefield Vietnam and I noticed whenever I have something running in the background I get lag... It can be the smallest things too, such as xfire, iTunes, DC++, IE, etc etc etc... I noticed when I close a lot of programs (iTunes Helper, iPod Service, etc) it cleared the lag.

Im pretty damn sure this is a hardware problem (MEM, Video Card, etc) because I have a pretty good DSL connection. I have 1180 kb/s D/L, and 130 kb/s U/L

I have 512 RAM, and a ATi Radeon 9600 AGP series card.

If anyone know the problem please tell me.

Thanks,

It has nothing to do with your internet connection (unless you are running that BT client, my BT client can slow my web browsing if I have enough connecitons) What you are experiencing is graphical lag from the increased stress on your system. It just can't handle it all with 512mb of ram. BF:V uses a lot of ram, and takes a nice system to run it with good settings. Your system is decent, and will run it ok, but definitely not with resource hogs like iTunes running in the background, that's just silly to do that.

I have a 9600XT and 512MB RAM and my computer plays Halo while defragmenting!

if you're running BitTorrent:
1]limit your upstream flow to ~1/2 or 2/3 of its max
>>Why? :: If you upstream flow is maxed out, it adversely effects your downstream flow. See, when information is transmitted over the web, let's say i'm sending you a file in packets of 8192b's, every time a packet finishes transmitting, I wait for you to respond with an "i got it" packet, which means you have to use your upstream. SO, if your upstream flow is full, then you cant' send the "i got it" packets as fast, which means your downstream flow will have to wait for the slower "i got it" packets to reach wherever/whomever you're downloading/downloading from.

read the tweak guide.

sounds like a RAM problem to me, pay speical attention to Page File etc. tweaks in the tweak guide.

follow the 6 or so guidelines up @ the top of the tweak guide religiously.

gl! and post back w/ results :D
