This is a little late since I already ordered it, but what do you guys think of the Koolance EXOS? All the reviews I read were very favorable. Even our benefactor Kyle uses one. I only plan on cooling my cpu with it. Any tips for setup?

It's the ideal entry-level watercooling setup probably. A good starting point for beginners.
It won't give near the performance of a higher level system, but it'll give a little better results than a high end air cooling setup.

it will work great for you with the 300 water block, you should also consider cooler your GPU with the koolance

I did get the 300 waterblock also. I needed something quick and easy for my new 3.0e. It's running pretty freakin hot at 54c/68c with a Zalman 7000alcu or whatever it is. Great cooler for my 3.0c but not the Prescott's.

I was going to put a 120mm fan in the side but decided to go water instead. Should have it by this weekend. Still feels weird putting water in my comp.

Thanks for the input.

The performance of the koolance is actually quite good. Its maybe 2C higher than my current watercooling setup which is 1/2" tubing. Alot of people knock the Koolance system and I got discouraged about mine so I spent another 250 dollars and bought a 1/2" custom system. Sadly it was a total waste of money cause the Koolance system cooled just as well. I didn't get any higher on my overclock on both my CPU or GPU with the 1/2" system. The only thing about the 1/2' system i got is it looks much better looking than the koolance system.

My koolance system is currently on my server and working quite well. You'll be happy with it and it will handle any overclock just fine. If you want a kit that works well the Koolance system is definatly a nice start.

That is a very nice review of the koolance review based on a subjective review. I am glad that someone decided to post their findings in this matter :D thank you dan

I picked up a Koolance exos about 2 months ago. I have the 300 cpu block, the 180 block on my 9800 pro, and stuck a 180block on my NB while I was at it.

The thing runs SUPER quiet, my temps at full load on the cpu alone are 15C cooler than the zalman 7000cu I had, and my NB is something like 10c cooler at full load. I'm extremely pleased with it. No noise, no mess, no hassle, took an hour to setup, and it works like a champ.

i have my koolance exos cooling my gpu/cpu/nb, with my 2.4c @ 3.4. temps are in the low-mid 40's under load. im very pleased with the exos but for my next system i will almost surely be building a custom kit now that i have the confidence i need about watercooling.

I have a Koolance EXOS as well, and I've had no troubles with temps. I have the 300 block on my CPU and 180s on my 6800GT and NB. 41-42*C max load temp at 3.7GHz, and the GPU never gets hotter than 52*C o/ced at 410/1000 (which is great, before the water setup it would get to load temps of 80*C). Very nice system, and easy to set up. I would see how larger tubing would help, but as Koolance points out, the flow rate is lower in a smaller tubing system but the water pressure is higher, balancing out any flaws, which is probably why the EXOS performs just as well as many other custom cooling.

the system has low flow rate but high turbulence. look at the waterblocks, all those piramids in there are supposed to cause turbulence. most other watercooling systems rely on high flow rates.

Cool!! Thanks guys. I feel a lot better about my $250 investment and putting water in my rig.

heh dont feel bad, i paid over $330 for all my exos equipment.

I got a Koolance Exos about 3 months ago.
This is what I have experienced so far:

Pros:
Much quieter than my previous air setup. Not silent, but a distant whisper when it's running on mode2.
The Koolance Temp Probe (installed propertly, under the output nozzle of the CPU-300 block w/ copper tape) gives me about 26-32c normally. Actual core temp is never more than 4 degrees higher than that.
Very easy setup, quite fun actually.
Truly adds a powerful look to your system, if you're the looks kind of guy.
Block design is efficient, due to nice use of materials e.g. pure copper w/ 21k gold plating.
Mode selections are quite useful, optimum cooling and noise setup.
Excellent radiator... huge, with 3 80mm fans pulling air up through it.

Cons:
A bit expensive.. I paid $280 for a black exos, CPU-300-H06, and GPU-180-L06. Perhaps custom setups are less expensive and perform better.
Dust gets accumulated under the radiator inside after a while... a bit painful to clean up.

That's the only negative I could think of. The use of 1/4in tubing does not seem to cripple the unit. This allows their relatively low-speed pumps to still maintain a good pressure and speed within the loop. Furthermore, as mentioned before, the turbulance pyramids in the blocks work quite well... water stays near the heat and picks up more.
For starters, I say this thing is great. It is my first time putting liquid in my comp, and Koolance made it very easy. Custom systems are not as easy to work with on your first try, and some simple experience from an Exos could really help.

If you're a first timer, I truly suggest it.
Corsair provides the only alternative for external cooling solutions of the same magnitude... but the HydroCool is not nearly as convenient in terms of features and looks... It's a good kit as well, but not nearly as finessed as a Koolance setup.

Ouch..That's too much. I picked up the same setup from e-bay.com for $165.00 shipped about a month ago. There is one reputable guy that sells EXOS (both black & aluminum) all the time. I bought it from him. Very smooth deal.
