I decided to swap the fans out of my Koolance EXOS with some LED fans. Here are the fans that I put in it...

http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=75001

...There are a few problems that I noticed. I think that the koolance uses 3 fan voltages depending on what mode you run it in, 5V 7V and 12V. The system is running slightly warmer, and it feels as if the fans are not pushing as much air as the stock ones.

According to HardOCP's review of the EXOS, the fans are rated at 28CFM@12V and 3000rpm@12V. My antec fans are 34CFM, and 2600rpm. I assume these numbers are also taken at 12V.

Has anybody else done a mod similar to this with their EXOS? I'd like to get some comments and suggestions.

I don't know why they rate them as 28cfm because it was pretty clear that they moved quite a bit more air then that at full flow but I did manage to find these specs that were dug up by systemcooling:
80mm Ruilian Science 12V 0.35A RDH8025B

Ruilian is now Xinruilian apparently and this is what their website, translated from Japanese says:

Nagao factory original model
80x80x25mm 3000rpm 30.78dB (A) largest airflow 40.81CFM
3pin pulse sensor attaching rib attaching
The Miniature Bearing make 2 ball bearings

40CFM, yea that makes alot more sense...looks like I need to swap the stock ones back in :( Now I get to look for fans that are more powerfull.

any suggests for an 80mm fan that has a flow of 40CFM or more? Must have blue LED's. I was thinking of maybe just forget about getting LED fans and just going for something more powerfull like these...

...I'm agraid that they will be louder (considerably louder than the stock fans) when they are running in the low speed mode.

You could get three of these and set them with the trim pots to whatever speed you desire at 12v , I just would avoid running them at full blast as it may damage the controller in your Exos.

Swapping out the fans on a Koolance can cause the control board to blow. (Check their site)
So I would only swap out for Fans of the same watts/Amps.

Another idea is to spray your origenal fans silver, drill holes for blue LEDs like those in a LED fan and make your own!
I plan to do this to mine.
:)

If you've got a digital multimeter you can tune the SF2's to draw a maximum of .35a each using the trim pots and still have the bling you want plus peace of mind.

I'm pretty much decided that I'm going to put the stock fans back in when I get some time. The stock fans that they put in there are actually pretty good fans, and these antec fans spin considerably slower and with less CFM than the stock fans on their lowest speed.

Yea, my LED fans are only 0.16Amps.
Are you going to mod them like I mentioned earlier?
:)

Na, I'm just going to leave it alone with stock fans..

I did this mod with my koolance system, but I have the built in case version. before the time of EXOS. Mine is a blue case with 3 80mm fans on the top. I took them out and put 3 blue fans with blue LEDs in them. It looks MUCH better in my opinion, and it's quieter. I noticed that I had an improvement in performance, not a decrease. But that's all based on what kind of environment you keep your system in.

Found the pics. Sorry for the blurry-ness, my camera doesn't like taking pics without the flash

I've no idea, I got them at Fry's about 2 years ago. The sticker on the back of them say "vastech"

I think the fans are running at 7V or 12V though, not the lowest 5V (Mode 1) as the yellow light is on indicating Mode 2 or 3 use. The fans do look nice though. However, I like the quietness of Mode 1. Besides, I am using my Koolance to cool the 6800gt only while the Asetek waterchill kit is doing the cpu cooling.

Here they are at the low setting, they are a little dimmer, but not to much
