any ideas for a good PSU? I dont really know anything about them. Im not powering much. When Im done with upgrades, Ill have a P4, intel D865GLC mobo, an audigy 2zs platinum, two hard drives and a cd-rw/dvd drive. thanks
 
For that, an Antec True 380 would be good. I use the True 430 to give me some headroom for the future.

Fortron power supplies are very good too. Just stay away from stuff like Deer, really cheap PSUs tend to not be very good.
 
If you want the best performance-for-price ratio, it probably lies in an Antec PSU, which I personally own.

If you want extremely high grade and high powered ones at a high price, look into Fortron and PC Power and Cooling.

Some lower priced and still good performers are Enermax, RaidMax, Sparkle, and Vantec.

In my humble opinion though, Antec is the best PSU I've owned. The TruePower series (mine is a TrueBlue 480W) features great power per rail and extremely stable voltages.

Antec Truepower, anything above 330 watts should last you a while.

The Zalman has a very good power efficiency rating if you are looking to save a few dollars in electricity a month and want a quiet powersupply.
 
Antec, Sparkle/ Forton, Enermax, Vantec, PC Power and Cooling, and Zalman all make crappy stuff...


And by crappy I mean good.
 
PC Power and Cooling or Antec. An Antec True 380 or 430 should be more than suffient for you.
 
Thermaltake 420watt is $43 shipped from www.newegg.com . I have 2 and have found them to be excellent units, comparable to my antec units which cost about $70.

As for PCP&C, that would be like sticking a Porche engine into a Ford Pinto.
