Just got a set of Klipsch iFi's over the weekend. Paid $195 for them (including shipping). I just have to say that anyone interested in good audio for their PC really needs to check this system out. The system has great frequency response, is detailed, AND is smooth. Really, this is very surprising coming from computer speakers.
Previous computer speakers for me include the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1's, and AudioEngine A5's. I've also used my Sennheiser HD-650's with the Headroom Micro Amp. All of this is connected to a SoundBlaster Audigy SE.
Compared to the ProMedia's: The iFi is a LOT more subtle. Where the ProMedias have an upper-mid frequency "hump" that jumps out at you, the iFi's are more flat. Also, the satellites can go far deeper than the satellites on the ProMedia's. Really - it's a night/day difference between these two. The subwoofer is less boomy and more defined. Imaging is improved too, but this is probably the smallest improvement I could find between the two. So for anyone using ProMedias - the iFi is a good three steps above it - no kidding. Everything is just better.
Compared to the A5's: The iFi is less detailed and more forgiving to poor sources. But not by much. The problem I had with the A5's are that they just SHOUT everything at you. Also, the A5's power-supply likes to crackle whenever we use the paper shredder. Frequency response most definitely favors the iFi's. And though it's still just a sub/sat system, it doesn't seem to fall into the same pits that other systems fall into. The sub isn't crossed over ridiculously high (120 hz), so it's not expected to carry any of the midrange weight. Brand-new, these two systems would fall into the same price category, so it's more of a "pick your flavor" kind of thing. For me, the smoothness of the Klipsch system wins. I'll be selling my A5's shortly.
