Yo. I'm a newb, so be gentle.

I'm really looking into going watercooled. Aircooling just doesn't cut it anymore....that...and watercooling in general is just awesome. :p Thing is, I'm cheap. Real cheap. Unemployed cheap. So I found the cheapest WC kit I could find: The Kingwin Arctic Liquid Cooler.

I have a friend who bought the kit and says it works wonders for him, even though I didn't see his temps. I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with this kit? I'd like to know before I blow a hundred dollars I don't have...

Save your money. That kit is no better than a good air cooled solution.

Have some patience and save up for a better kit like the EXOS or something similar. Figure $200 or so for a decent setup.

Well, the only places I know to buy WC stuff is Xoxide and FrozenCPU, and $200 won't get me shit on either of those sites. Does anyone know some good sites?

try svc.com, crazypc.com.

Maybe you are better off with a TT bigwater kit, good for beginners and only 119 at svc.

Why not go DIY for the best performance and cheapest price.....

77 Bonne core = $20.00
Maxijet 1200 pump = $20.00 Or the Danners on sale right now, mentioned in another thread.
Swifty 6000 block = 40.00
T-Line, 3/8 tubing, misc. fittings, 2 120 fans = under $20.00

But-kicker system for under $100 bones.....

That's about the system I have (except I use a Swifty 6002 block, and a Swifty MCP-650 pump) and it's leaps and bounds better than the Kingwin kit, which incidently I also have.

Just to put things quantitatively, with the mentioned kit, I can do 2.1v's and keep load temps at 55c. With the kingwin kit, the highest I can do is 1.9v, and the temps would rise to over 60c.

I have the Evercool version of that kit, its suppose to be better than the Kingwin through a better pump and a second rad I think. Even though its looked down on as a water cooling solution, I'm not a big oc'er and don't have the time or money to invest in a from scratch wc solution. This kit gives me the wc starting point i want and allow for me to slowly upgrade at my own pace. It's a fun little kit and for $100 it gets me learning about wc while cooling my cpu & gpu. :)

Well I got an EXOS Al a few weeks ago with the the CPU300 waterblock and I can say it's a pretty sweet cooling system and I'm glad I got it. I'm gonna wait till the next gen video cards come out, then I'm going to hook up a cooler to my video card so I can cool it too. But I can vouch for EXOS, they make damn good watercooling stuff. My temps are about 20 C lower than they were with the stock fan & heatsink that came with the processor.

Cost me about 200 when it's all said and done.
