So, now I feel like a genius. My overclock started shrinking and my ram started going to crap. First I blamed the ram so I tried some dif. Then I blamed the core so I tried a dif chip and ruled that out (thanks Mom for letting me ruin your warranty on your acer lol). I tested everything under the sun and BAH no dice. A corsair tech person suggested maybe the power supply. DOH!!!!! Why didnt I think of that? the fan in my powersupply died a while back. I was going to RMA it but the dog chewed one of the wires. I had been using a big fat box fan to cool my case and the PSU all at once but sometimes I forgot it and left it off. The PSU would then get so hot it would shut off. I finally cracked open the PSU (got cut up by them mean edges too!) and replaced the fan but I never thought to think to blame it for my declining overclock and dying ram. I put in my ancient Power Win 420 and VOULA priming at 2.7 with 1.5 again. I cant say all my problems are fixed yet, still have some ram testing to do but the chip is definetly back in the ballgame. A bad powersupply sure can make everything else seem like its screwing up.

be thankful you caught it...the last time mine died in a high end system (dual XP-MP's) it took a 200 dollar gigabyte board and all my hard drives along with it...thats a nice way to see a 480GB raid-0 hit the crapper....

very lucky yeah...i lost a socket a board and everything hooked up to the powersupply, dvd burner ,hd .ram etc...always buy a high quality ps

Your lucky, my PSU went PEWPEWBANG*ded* on tuesday and took my SATA drives with it, now i'm stuck with this IDE 200gig that I got for 20 bucks from staples.

yeah your lucky i had antec 500 and i dont know what happen but i saw smoke coming buy by the time i notice i heard a huge POP and the computer turns off try a diff ps and no luck, killed 4 hard drives a P4 3.6Ghz 2 gig of ram mobo, killed everything.

But I learn something. I hope u do to.

Yeah, open case. Girlfriends dog. Didnt know it was a wire chewer. I got a new problem though. The new powersupply makes everything work okish but not overnight stable. Will just restart :( looks like I know what im buying for xmas.
