How does everything look? i installed the 177.35 on my 8800GTX, windows vista64 and everything seems to be working great, the client and F@hViewer seem to be doing great and very stable.

how do i check what my PPD or whatever, any tips?

FAHMon is what a lot of people use for checking PPD. Close the graphical window for the GPU client, it's worthless. Start running the SMP client on that Q6600. Last, but certainly not least, OC THOSE MOTHERS!

As you probably have seen from around this forum you won't get much in the way of extra ppd by overclocking the core or memory on your gpu. Just concentrate on your shaders and that way you won't generate too much heat. I picked up an extra 500 ppd by moving my shaders from stock 1350 to 1674 on my 8800GTX. I'm still letting it fold for awhile and will then go back and see if I can get a little more out of it. It is running at 5238 ppd with 64 bit vista on a Q6600@3.2 and two instances of the SMP client. Total ppd for the boxen is 8290 while crunching 2 p2665 SMP workunits.

The evga overclocking utility makes easy work of getting more ppd out of your gpu.

thanks for the welcomes, i was actually folding way back in 2002-2004 but this new GPU client has got me back into it and using the GPU for more than games fascinates me http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,2845,2324316,00.asp, i have my IBM eserver 325 with dual opteron 2.0 GHZ sitting here doing nothing, i may fire her up with the folding live cd later, of course i also have 3 other computers i use for various things but i don't want to get to high with my electric bill.

also the GPU client acts strange, its very stable but the 3d representation gets smaller and smaller every time you open it up and now it is completely gone, has anyone had this problem?

the viewer is a bit buggy, but it has nothing to do with the actual WU

With default clocks I'd say you're getting about the right PPD, or at least in the ballpark. But I don't have a GTX, someone with one might be able to give you a better idea.
 
is there a program or reference i could use to see with a given cpu how many PPD's it will put out? i'm wondering what my dual opteron 2.0 GHZ can do?
 
Welcome to the [H]orde! Make yourself comfortable, grab a cold one (That's what we do here in Texas just to stay alive!), and have a good time.
Right off the bat I can't answer your opteron question, but it is a good one. It would help people make hardware decisions much easier. I'll see what I can find. Right now though it seems that GPU's are where its at. Oh, and PS3's do pretty well too.

I use FahInfo.
You need to know approx which protien your lible to get with each type of client.
Then look up its PpDperGhz figure for the type of CPU you are useing.

Multiply the PpDperGhz figure by the Ghz of your CPU and by the number of cores you are running it on.
