Just started folding today!!

Have fun and yes it is addicting.

No its not addicting. (As I check my PM's for the 50th time today to see if I got MIBW rigs for the week).

WELCOME!!!

Welcome to the team!

thanks for folding with us! Glad to have you!

Anything I need to do so I can join Team 33?

edit: Well besides the obvious adding the Team number into the configuration. Anyone I need to ask?

Nothing else needed. You have team 33 in your config and that means you are a member of the [H]orde now.

Fold On!

Load the folding client and add 33 as your team number. Let the madness ensue!

lol Kendrak

So next question GPU or SMP? I installed the system tray program and am currently only using my CPU (SMP? Im guessing). Do I need to uninstall the system tray and install one of the clients like v7 in one of these other threads, or just keep on folding this way? I downloaded it from: http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Download

To give you the best suggestions, you need to post what you have in your machine.

I can tell a little by your sig, That C2D file server will work just fine with the SMP client folding on the CPU. Should get you around 2000-3000 points a day.

The laptop is your point maker as I see it for now. Run the SMP client on the CPU, try -smp 8 as the setting. If it gets super hot, try -smp 6, and if that is still too hot, -smp 4. you could see numbers over 10,000 PPD on that one.

As for Systray vs Console vs v7, it's a mixed bag. Most of us are more familiar with the Console client, but the Systray will make about the same as long as you don't use the viewer function. v7 won't get you any appreciable benefits for now. So my personnal recommendation is the Console client, but I would not upgrade from systray unless you were doing something major that requires an uninstall/reinstall for some other reason.

oh and welcome to the team..... let the madness ensue......

more like 6-8k ppd, f@h scales relativley well, my 620m(3.33ghz w/ turbo, 2c4 threads) gets 3-4k ppd

Welcome!

What Addiction?
/looks at 2 empty G34 sockets

LOL, as he looks at a pair of Z8NA's with hex's

@OP, welcome aboard the team - Don't forget to register for your passkey if you haven't already

Passkey FAQ

Get one ASAP. Get it in your config ASAP.

All the PPD we have been quoting are based on receiving bonuses for rapid return of WUs. You need to have a passkey and fold 10 WU with it before you are "eligible."

I would never fold on my laptop.... I have already cooked my mobo once to fix a video issue with just casual gaming. Added wear on such a valuable tool isn't worth it to me. Plus, I'm gonna say that laptop does 6-8k tops. I advise OP to have active outer cooling if you must fold on it.

I will second/third/fourth the addiction part. I'm considering a dual G34 system for a headless file server, just to get something that will produce some decent PPD!
