woooooot! i just ordered my first DIY comp ever! wish me luck on building!
here are specs:

antec sonata w/380 watt psu
amd barton 2500+ mobile
abit nf7-s
geil 512mb pc3200
sapphire radeon 9800pro
lite on black dvd/cdrw combo
sony black floppy
blue cold cathode (to shine in the antec letters of my case :) )

this heatsink fan

i'm just wondering if that heatsink fan is good? my friend told me to get it because it was cheaper than this one .

can anyone please rate my comp and tell me the projected oc of my computer PLEASE??! (i'm young and can't burn cash, so an oc that will run stable for at least a year-year and a half)

thanks!!!

Just wanted to say "Congrats!".

The parts you picked out looks pretty good. I just purchased the same case last week. It is pretty good and quiet, I am sure that you will be satisfied.

As for the HSF, I am not an AMD user so i can't tell you first hand but I am sure folks will voice their opinions soon enough.

Alex

i dont have experience with the HSF that u bought but the silent boost works great :D

yeah, i'm kind worried about the fan being underpowered... i hope to at least get a 2.2ghz overlock stable for a year???

Well, it looks awesome to me. Only two things I see...

The mobile 2500+ is really only faster than the mobile 2400+ at stock speeds. Once you overclock, they both overclock to about the same speeds, so you could have saved a little money with the 2400+. No biggy though :)

Also, the heat sink fan kind of... Doesn't look all that great. I can't tell you how it is, as I've never used it, but for the price it probably won't be all that wonderful. If you ever decide to upgrade cooling, a Thermalright SP-97 with a 92mm Panaflo fan would be a nice, silent solution for that :)

ok, i think i might go with that panaflo/thermalright combination when i get everything else i wanna get (in this order dvd burner, cordless mx duo, another stick of geil 512mb ram).

can someone please tell me an estimated overclock? i read some reviews and a person with a barton 3000+ said he overclocked @ 2.4 ghz and it was running stable. someone please help!

Misfitsfriend, please reconsider your choice of mouse/keyboard.

There are numerous threads on here and other forums saying wireless is worthless (in essence)

I had a mx700 and traded it with a friend's mx 500 , he said ok ill pay you the price differance and i said no.
I was just glad to get rid of the mx700 POS

^^

Good stuff on the rest, however.

2.2GHz Shoulnd't be a problem.

You truly got the best "Bang for your buck computer"

It'll be a great comp...

Good Luck :D

Haha. I bet you'd have no problems reaching 2.4-2.5GHz :)

I'm not a big fan of Tt, after my awful brush with them with the Volcano9

The SP97 and Panaflo is basically the best solution, but a lil overkill. The ALX800 and Panaflo would've been a slightly cheaper solution :)

Anyway, have fun! You'd get at LEAST 2.3GHz... hehe
